Laura |
After
more than a year, Laura finally completed her Novice rating.
Way to hang in there! |
| Oct 25 |
Clif |
Clif
has been coming out a lot lately, and his progress has been
great so far: on the last day out he landed him self at
the Harvest Dykes with just a few comments from Tonya. |
| Oct 19 |
Jeremy W |
Jeremy
has the right stuff: doing full on wing-overs, asymetricals
and front tucks – all on his 15th flight! His launches
and landing also near perfect. Outstanding! |
| Sept 14 |
Peter |
Peter
continues to be a huge asset to my school, with his continuous
help and support throughout each day: offering many rides
up, student coaching, landing ATC…, but on Sunday
he did his first top landing (A- grade) and his first B-stall
– well done and thanks! |
| Sept 6 |
Laura |
Laura
out did herself with a huge acro show – my tandem
passenger was blown away with her Asymetrical and full frontal
– well done! Honourable mentions to Chiu for his endless
help behind the scenes. |
| Sept 1 |
Art |
Art
was our fearless wind dummy at Hedley and challenged him
self numerous times at Iron Mt, not to mention hosting a
huge Deimos crew at his place, acting tour guide, cooking
meals, washing the dishes…thanks Art! |
| Aug 23 |
Tania |
Tania
was challenged today with launching students, some Siv maneuvers
(for her self) and still had energy to teach my newest students.
Honorable mentions to Andrew for volunteering to be a tandem
passenger for our newest Instructor Veronica (even after
her "not-so-perfect" take off). |
| Aug 17 |
Andrew B. |
More great flying for all my students, but this week
it was Andrew’s turn to shine – completing
his first spiral dive and novice rating. Congrats!
A special thank you to Chiu for all of his help this
weekend!

| Aug 9 |
Thorge |
Lots
of great launches and overall good landings - all the extra
practice seems to be working! |
| July 25 |
Laura |
Laura
had her personal best flights this week both highest (+3500’)
and longest flights (plus 2 and half hours), including some
nice landings.
Honorable mentions to Claudia for her spot landing, and
Peter for helping out at every possible moment. |
| July 19 |
Peter |
Outstanding
flying from Peter all weekend: he spec’d out at both
Woodside and later Bridal, completed his first spiral dive
– the final manuever for his novice rating. On top
of this, he was more than ready and willing to help guide
some students on their maiden flights. Congrats! Honorable
mentions to Andrew, Laura and Patti for completing their
longest flights ever – I think Patti was almost three
hours. |
| July 12 |
Peter |
Another
brilliant week of flying from Peter. He passed his novice
exam, survived my customary Titanic flight, had his first
real solo launch with no pilots around, and was as helpful
as possible through out the day. |
| July 6 |
Andrei |
Andrei,
although had some interesting collapses this week –
managed to jump back on the horse and keep flying. Also,
he continues to help the new pilots set up their gear during
our busy training sessions all week. Honorable mentions
to Peter for solid launches, flying and landings. |
| June 28 |
Samuel |
It's
usual to win the pilot of the week and no fly, but in this
case I think most would agree the Samuel worked very hard.
Honorable mentions to Shane for his low safe and top landing,
and Jeremy for his hard work all week and first solo flight
(solid take off and landing - I just need to get him to
work on his punctuality). |
| June 22 |
Andrew B. |
Andrew
had his dream flight today (his second solo ever). About
45 minutes of dreamy soaring conditions, followed by a tricky
Big Ears landing. Well done! |
| June 14 |
Laura |
On her
third solo flight, Laura put together a near perfect launch
after a close call on her second solo flight. It takes a
strong mind to shake off a close call, but in any case Laura
had one of her best launches this weekend. We just need
to work on those landings! Honorable mentions to Layne for
his most flights in one day. |
| June 7 |
Peter |
Peter
seems to always be in the spot light this week: either a
close call with his harness, his first asymetricals, landing
a little too long at Bridal, or his first real reverse launch
(at Woodside), but in any case, lots of great progress and
lessons learned. Honourable mentions to Andrew for his first
solo high flight. |
| May 24 |
Peter |
Another
tough week with lots of great firsts: Laura did here first
solo after six months of training (not really her fault
– most of the time that she came out the wind was
cross or something weird; Patrick with his help in the LZ
and when ever possible; but I think Peter’s flying
has been outstanding this week– he came out to almost
every practice session, was quick to help out, displayed
huge patience, in less that five flights he's had developed
a solid forward and reverse launch ,and this weekend logged
his first one hour flight! Outstanding! |
| May 17 |
Litte Dan |
Lots
of stars this week: Andrei with getting his novice rating,
first flights from Felix and Peter, Layne with his longest
flight ever (3 hours), but I think it was Little Dan’s
help at Burnaby Mt and all weekend that was the essential
ingredient that keep us all in the air. Thanks Dan! |
| May 3 |
Wil |
Huge progress from Wil this week: in just a few days
he has flown from the top of Burnaby Mt., and a couple
of mini flights while at Whidbey Island! Keep up the good
work!
|
| April 19 |
Patrick |
Not
much flying out of Patrick these days (due to bad weather),
but lots of great effort. This week he spent two days helping
me design, build and install the new Bridal Falls LZ sign.
Many Thanks – I think it turned out pretty nice! |
| April 12 |
Zenon |
Zenon
blew everyone away with his back-to-back perfect reverse
launches – quite impressive for just a dozen flights! |
| March 29 |
Patrick |
Patrick
was our first student (intermediate) to complete his HAGAR
and HAM exam - well done. |
| March 9 |
Toler |
Toler,
since he first signed up, has been to every practice day,
has joined us for every flying day, and even the odd special
training day – but today he really shined with his
first tough launch at Sumas. Congrat’s Toler. |
