Had
a quick sled ride on the emotion yesterday in strong cross
conditions. It is really easy to launch and came directly
overhead despite the cross wind. There was no feeling that
it wanted to overshoot. The handling is nice for a DHV1.
I did a few wingovers and 360's and was happy with the turn
radius and speed. It should be easy to core tight thermals.
Big ears were simple with the split A risers and required
very little force to keep in. They did come out by themselves
but very slowly. The landing was longer than I wanted simply
because I'm not used to the glide. The materials and construction
are very high quality. U-Turn included a nice rucksack with
enough room for all my gear and it felt pretty comfortable
while hiking. Also included was a ladder speed bar, two
replacement lines (A and B), repair tape for every colour
and a CD with manual and tech data. The Emotion is a great
glider and despite having DHV1 safety, it does not sacrifice
much in the performance department. And the wing design
looks fantastic too. I'll post more observations when I
can get a longer thermic flight in.
